Senate promise to probe Ex-CJN Tanko Muhammed

Following the resignation of Justice Ibrahim Muhammad Tanko as the Chief Justice Of Nigeria, the Red Chamber has on Tuesday, 28th of June, 2022, promised to probe the legal luminary. This motion to probe Justice Tanko was moved by the Chairman of Senate Committee on Judiciary Matters, Human Rights and Legal Matters, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, from Ekiti State and a member of the All Progressives Congress, APC. The motion which was moved by Senator Bamidele was tagged, State of Affairs In The Supreme Court Of Nigeria and Demand By Justices of the Court. Recall that the senate had earlier charged the aforementioned senate committee to look into the affairs of the Judiciary last week which the senate now agreed to let the committee proceed on finding a listing solution to the issue at hand by the consultation of various stakeholders. Popular Nigerian journalist and former presidential spokesperson, Dr Reuben Abati has reacted over the comments made by the national leader of the All Progressive Congress, Asiwaju Tinubu few days ago when he met with some delegates from the south West.  It would be recalled that Asiwaju claimed that without him, Buhari wouldn't have become the president. Modest increase in the FAAC payout

The gross monthly distribution by the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) to the three tiers of government and public agencies amounted to N725.6bn in April (from March revenue). This shows an increase of 4.4% or N30.6bn from the previous payout. Based on data in the local media, we learnt that companies’ income tax (CIT), petroleum profit tax (PPT), value added tax (VAT), oil and gas royalties, import and excise duties recorded increases over the previous month. The FGN received a total of N277.1bn and state governments received N227.2bn, including N53.4bn representing the 13% derivation for the few oil producing states.  The headline figure consists of N337.4bn in gross statutory distribution, N165.6bn from the VAT Pool, and excess bank charges of N7.5bn was recovered. The total deductions for cost of collection was N44.4bn and the total deductions for statutory transfers, refunds and savings was N382.8bn. Controversial relationship therapist and social media influencer, Blessing Nkiruka Okoro who is popularly known as Blessing CEO have advised ladies to stop taking kindness from men as a sign of love. The relationship therapist is celebrating her birthday today and she made the statement in one of her birthday advice. According to Blessing, most ladies assume that a man falls in love with them immediately they meet him even when he did not mention it to them. The therapist debunked that assumption and revealed that until a man officially tells a lady he loves her, that lady is still single. She then advised ladies to define what they want from men and stop assuming that men easily fall in love with them just like that. Economist warns Nigeria about devaluation of naira

A university don, Prof. DavId Osikhena Umoru has called on the federal government to put an end to the devaluation of naira in the country. He made the call while delivering the Edo State University Uzairue the 4th Inagural Lecture series titled “Devaluation of Naira, Shocks, and Realities: Evidence Disciplining Strength on Wednesday. Umoru, a professor of Applied Monetary and Financial Economics in the department of Art, Management and Social Sciences, Edo University, Uzairue, said there has to be production for export before contemplating devaluing the naira.   He said Nigerian government must put an end to naira devaluation which is anchored on the fact that the naira exchange rate management is not a topic of probability.
