Why Arteta has not been doing bad in Arsenal

Arsenal recently lost some ground in their quest to qualify for the Champions League next season. This was due to a loss they suffered against Newcastle United and has become a very big stigma around them due to the fact that Tottenham Hotspur needs to win the last remaining game in order for Arsenal to go back to Europa League football. However, many people are using the loss against Newcastle as ammunition against Mikel Arteta and have concluded that he has been failing since the Spanish international came to Arsenal, but in this article, we take a look at why the Arteta has actually not been doing very badly at the Emirates stadium.

While Arsenal spent the most money on transfers at the start of the season, many people actually expected them to finish inside the top four and play Champions League football next season mainly because of the sheer amount they spent. This has become a problem because even though Arsenal have become a very good side, they have been plagued with extreme injuries this season that have prevented them from gaining some level of inconsistency. Players like Kieran Tierney and Thomas Partey have become very injury-prone, and because of those injuries, they have failed to make it into the first team consistently. However, many people will dismiss this as some form of excuse. But it is important to note that both Tierney and Partey are extremely important to Mikel Arteta's tactical systems and play key roles in the system.

Mikel Arteta has brought many things to Arsenal and have have started depending more on the youth players. They terminated Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's contract in order to give Eddie Nketiah a chance to become a recognized member of the first team, and that faith has been wholly rewarded. Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith-Rowe have also become key players under Mikel Arteta, which would never have been possible if the Spanish international was not at the club.
