Thursday, 26th May 2022  TOPIC: MINISTERING TO YOUR OWN NEEDS  FOR READING & MEDITATION:  ACTS 20:33-35. 33 “I have never been hungry for money or fine clothing— 34 you know that these hands of mine worked to pay my own way and even to supply the needs of those who were with me. 35 And I was a constant example to you in helping the poor; for I remembered the words of the Lord Jesus, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” MEDITATE  Yesterday we advanced two reasons why we need to work: (1) to make a living, and (2) to help you develop your God-given potentials. Today, we shall consider more reasons why work is so very important.  Apostle Paul gave us the third reason from our text why we should work: it is to gain a sense of satisfaction, fulfilment and accomplishment that make up for essential, healthy living.  There is a sense of fulfilment that comes to you when you commit and do something with your hands and succeed. It makes you less depende...

Image
Controversial relationship therapist and social media influencer, Blessing Nkiruka Okoro who is popularly known as Blessing CEO have advised ladies to stop taking kindness from men as a sign of love. The relationship therapist is celebrating her birthday today and she made the statement in one of her birthday advice. According to Blessing, most ladies assume that a man falls in love with them immediately they meet him even when he did not mention it to them. The therapist debunked that assumption and revealed that until a man officially tells a lady he loves her, that lady is still single. She then advised ladies to define what they want from men and stop assuming that men easily fall in love with them just like that. "Until a man looks straight into your eyes and tells that he wants to date you, you are still single. Ladies this is 2022 men will mess with you, define what you want and stop assumptions." She wrote.

In his words; “I think it’s just natural, and that everybody should know, and I don’t know what’s behind the mind of Tinubu but I respect him a lot, but I think Tinubu is in distress because he feels that it’s a time to compensate him on the basis of the role he played in the formation of APC which some of us were part of it,” he said. The controversial politician added that the 2023 presidency should be zoned to the South-East. “He [Tinubu] believed that he has made people and this is the time people should allow him or make him or something. More like a reward system. But more than that, we are talking about the nation called Nigeria. We have ...

Tuesday, 24th May 2022  TOPIC:  LIVE FOR SOMETHING HIGHER  FOR READING & MEDITATION:  ROMANS 8:35-39 35 Who then can ever keep Christ’s love from us? When we have trouble or calamity, when we are hunted down or destroyed, is it because he doesn’t love us anymore? And if we are hungry or penniless or in danger or threatened with death, has God deserted us? 36 No, for the Scriptures tell us that for his sake we must be ready to face death at every moment of the day—we are like sheep awaiting slaughter;  37 but despite all this, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ who loved us enough to die for us.  38 For I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from his love. Death can’t, and life can’t. The angels won’t, and all the powers of hell itself cannot keep God’s love away. Our fears for today, our worries about tomorrow,  39 or where we are—high above the sky, or in the deepest ocean—nothing will ever be able to separate us from the love o...

Image
For the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Charles Soludo, it’s a journey from one nightmare to another. That has been his life, and the state of his State, in the past couple of weeks. He thought the limit was the beheading, on Saturday, May 21, 2022, of Honourable Okechukwu Okoye, the House of Assembly Member, representing the Governor’s Constituency, Aguata 2. But no, more was in the offing. 24 hours after Okoye was beheaded, and his head hung at the Chisco Park, Amichi, Nnewi, it was again a river of blood in the State.   On Sunday, May 22, gunmen  shot and killed seven people  in Anambra State. The most heartless:  A mother and her four children were shot and killed in one fell swoop, at Isulo, Orumba North Local Government Area. Another man was also shot and killed at Nanka in same LGA. Elsewhere in the State, specifically, Abatete, in Idemili North LGA, another man was, shut and killed, bringing the number of fatalities from gun shots to seven. Eye witness a...

Monday, 23rd May 2022 TOPIC: COMMITTED, NO MATTER WHAT  FOR READING & MEDITATION:  HEBREWS 11:13-16 13 These men of faith I have mentioned died without ever receiving all that God had promised them; but they saw it all awaiting them on ahead and were glad, for they agreed that this earth was not their real home but that they were just strangers visiting down here.  14 And quite obviously when they talked like that, they were looking forward to their real home in heaven. 15 If they had wanted to, they could have gone back to the good things of this world.  16 But they didn’t want to. They were living for heaven. And now God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has made a heavenly city for them. MEDITATE  The scripture for meditation today supports the point about the attitude of the early saints. Take Moses for example, he had the opportunity to become the next Pharaoh but turned it down. History reveals that civilization began in Egypt.  Just i...

SATURDAY, 21st May 2022  TOPIC: LIFE'S ESSENCE FOR READING & MEDITATION:  I Corinthians 15:19. 19. And if our hope in Christ is only for this life, we are more to be pitied than anyone in the world. MEDITATE  Christianity is more than the benefits of eating and drinking, more than just getting a house to live in and a car to drive. Yes, much deeper than all of these and even more. Material benefits are not bad but are only additions that follow after we have received the real thing. Therefore, it is foolish to leave the substance and settle for the side attractions. If you read further down our text for today meditation, Apostle Paul asks; “why is it that as Christians we are thrown into one jail after another, beaten almost to death but we keep going on? Is it just for what we will eat and drink”? No. There is more to Christianity than that.  In fact some of the Corinthians brethren had this wrong belief that the time of the resurrection of the saints has pass...

How do we tell our Children North ruled for 16 years, drop your ambition - Duke to Atiku

Image
The former governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke, has advised former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to drop his 2023 presidential bid. Duke said Atiku's ambition is against the principle of natural justice and fairness. Duke, who was the candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the 2019 presidential election, said power should return to the south after President Muhammadu Buhari's eight-year tenure. In a viral video posted on Twitter, the former governor said Atiku Abubakar has been vying for the presidency since 1993 and that it is time for him to rest. Duke questioned how southerners would tell their children that after Buhari's eight-year tenure, another northerner took over and the North ruled for 16 years in a row. The former governor added that Southerners need a sense of belonging during this period. He asked the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to zone its 2023 presidential ticket to the south.

Friday, 20th May 2022  TOPIC:  TAKING RISKS FOR GOD FOR READING & MEDITATION:  DANIEL 3:1-18. 1 King Nebuchadnezzar made a gold statue ninety feet high and nine feet wide and set it up on the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon;  2 then he sent messages to all the princes, governors, captains, judges, treasurers, counselors, sheriffs, and rulers of all the provinces of his empire, to come to the dedication of his statue.  3 When they had all arrived and were standing before the monument,  4 a herald shouted out, “O people of all nations and languages, this is the king’s command: 5 “When the band strikes up, you are to fall flat on the ground to worship King Nebuchadnezzar’s gold statue;  6 anyone who refuses to obey will immediately be thrown into a flaming furnace.” 7 So when the band* began to play, everyone—whatever his nation, language, or religion—fell to the ground and worshiped the statue. 8 But some officials went to the king and accu...

See how over thinking is killing You

Image
Overthinking means to think too much about (something): to put too much time into thinking about or analyzing (something) in a way that is more harmful than helpful. Overthinkers may have trouble distinguishing between the fear of making a mistake, which leads to overthinking to the point where they make no decision, and a deep feeling that something is wrong.  Knowing if fear or intuition is guiding your behavior will help you get out of your head and take the next necessary steps. SIGNS THAT YOU OVERTHINK ▶️Difficulty following along with and contributing to a conversation because you go over potential responses or statements time and again until the conversation has either ended or the window of opportunity for speaking was lost ▶️Continually comparing yourself to the people around you and how you measure up to them ▶️Focusing on worst-case scenarios either involving yourself or the ones you love ▶️Reliving past failures or mistakes over and over again and you're unable to move ...

THURSDAY, 19th May 2022  TOPIC: A FEARLESS MIND FOR READING & MEDITATION:  PHILIPPIANS 1:20-24 20. For I fully expect and hope that I will never be ashamed, but that I will continue to be bold for Christ, as I have been in the past. And I trust that my life will bring honor to Christ, whether I live or die.  21. For to me, living means living for Christ, and dying is even better. 22. But if I live, I can do more fruitful work for Christ. So I really don’t know which is better.  23. I’m torn between two desires: I long to go and be with Christ, which would be far better for me.  24. But for your sakes, it is better that I continue to live. MEDITATE  From our text for meditation today we can begin to appreciate what made Apostle Paul to live the way he did. One of this is that: deep down within him, he has overcome the fear of death. Death was not an issue as far as he was concerned. That is why he said: “For to me, living means opportunities for Christ, ...

WEDNESDAY, 18th May 2022  TOPIC: PAUL SUFFERS GLADLY FOR READING & MEDITATION:  Acts 21:8-14; Romans 5:3-4. 8. The next day we went on to Caesarea and stayed at the home of Philip the Evangelist, one of the seven men who had been chosen to distribute food.  9. He had four unmarried daughters who had the gift of prophecy.  10. Several days later a man named Agabus, who also had the gift of prophecy, arrived from Judea.  11. He came over, took Paul’s belt, and bound his own feet and hands with it. Then he said, “The Holy Spirit declares, ‘So shall the owner of this belt be bound by the Jewish leaders in Jerusalem and turned over to the Gentiles.’”  12. When we heard this, we and the local believers all begged Paul not to go on to Jerusalem.  13. But he said, “Why all this weeping? You are breaking my heart! I am ready not only to be jailed at Jerusalem but even to die for the sake of the Lord Jesus.”  14. When it was clear that we couldn’t persu...
